Melody for Me Project

The Melody For Me Project was launched by past music student, Fergus Carver, following the completion of his EPQ on the topic of memory recall through music.

The aim of the project is to improve the lives and well-being of Dementia patients, through the medium of music.

The Langton Song Centre visits Bridge Haven Care Home on a regular basis to sing and play music for them, along with engaging the residents in singing, dancing and movement games. We are also working to develop personalised playlists for the residents, liaising with the patient, carers and families.

We aim to find music for the patients, which “evokes emotion” and “brings back the feeling of life when nothing else can.”

We are supplying the residents with an iPod/ MP3 player, which we hope will retrieve music and memories from the past.

This project is open to all students, whether or not they are involved in other music at the Langton.
