The Langton Success Programme is an advanced study skills programme which uses the VESPA Academy platform – focusing on vision, effort, systems, practice and attitude in order to improve academic performance.
In essence, VESPA is an online growth mindset platform which will yield a personalised profile or score of each learner’s current learning behaviours, aptitudes and non-cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Once onboarded onto the VESPA system, students will undertake a very simple questionnaire which will create a profile, with individual scores (1 to 10) in the five VESPA aptitude areas.
The VESPA Institute will then recommend a series of activities through which students will work whilst on the programme. Because the approach is student-led, it will maximise engagement and effectiveness, although there will also be teachers on hand to guide work through the various resources.
The LSP will run on the History of Ideas timetable, meaning that students will not be inconvenienced by having to attend after-school clubs, will not have to leave lessons in other subjects to join us, and will receive (the biggest obvious benefit here) 1-1 help and coaching as they seek to improve their current academic performance.
The LSP is run by Dr Taylor, Miss Day and Mr Walters and is housed in the school’s Tong Centre for Research.
